While-You-Shop Nannies

Thought of shopping but nobody to take care of the kids? Come on, accept it. Sometimes you want to have a time for your own, sans the kid howling at the back because he wants to buy a new costume of Spiderman, right?

Try the playground in SM Malls. They are often found near the SM Department Store entrances or hair salons. There must be one playground on each floor of SM San Lazaro where you could leave your kids while you shop. Prices range from P50 to P100 for half an hour. Not bad.

I must have ignored them before, or I was simply less sensitive to such places but I find the idea really cool. Louna loved the place. At her age, I was of course obliged to stay with her so we played together inside the playground. There was one moment where I kept distance from her so I could observe her interactions with other kids. Well, she's not playing with them but she was attentive to her environment. At one point, I caught her eating popcorn because another kid was handing her some every so often. I guess, for Louna, it was the best part of the stay hehe.

The nannies seem to take good care of the kids, they even have first aid kits. I give them two thumbs up for that! Way to go!

When we were in SM Mall of Asia, we rented a toy car that you could push where you want to go while the little tyke is in it pretending to drive.

My Jake enjoyed this one as much as we enjoyed the shopping. :D

my eldest son Patrick was only 2 when that "palaruan" in SM Mall was established. Me and mother would sometimes love the idea of leaving my son there (P75/hour pa lang noon) But the moment when we were about to leave him, ayaw na ni madir. Dahil there're lots and lotsa what ifs going on in her mind (like pano na lang raw kung biglang mag earthquake, fire, bombings or stampede) Like you know.. worries ng lola.

But hey.. i love that while-you-shop nannies too. Brilliant idea. Wala nyan dito sa Toronto eh, sayang.

I remember they already have this in SM Las Pinas late 90's, even before I left for France *light bulb idea* That'll be such a great business here in France, no?

Went to Cebu Gaisano and they have this thing too! Very practicable and kids don't get bored while parents are away. Mingling with other kids is just a way to out!

Linnor, we have that kind of pushcarts here too... kids have fun while you shop hehe..

Nao, malamang ako din di mapapakali pag iniwan ko si louna dun.. pano kung nakidnap hehe..

Tatie Sha, hehe, kaya nga stay na lang ako with louna sa playground while sistahs are doing their shopping e hehehe.. so still the same, i still hate shopping... and everybody at work was asking me if i did a lot of shopping in pinas... they're probably thinking that im a real hopeless case.. patapos na soldes dito and wala pa din akong nabibili hehehe.. i guess im loving internet shopping, that's why..

Makis, haha, parang huli na talaga ako sa balita... i never noticed this in pinas before, pramis! yep, must be a good idea here... i was talking about this to one of my colleagues and she told me, existing na daw yung concept sa ikea... waaaaah, how could i be soooo late to catch the news... i guess i need to go out shopping more often nga...

Haze, oo na, huli na talaga ako sa balita hehehe...

Kala, oo na nga sabi e, huli na talaga ako sa balita... they have the same in ikea dijon hehe.

My daughter went to one similar to that while I had an appointment with my dentist but I asked my younger sister stay with her. I'm just so paranoid, I guess.

places are this are great for moms! but how clean are they? i guess that's the only thing that will keep me away from places like this. i would rather have my kids in a push cart with their gameboy.

kk, i guess i'll do the same, i need to have somebody i know to be near my daughter.

Jo, well, they're relatively clean, bago pa nga lahat ng toys e... but well, SM San Lazaro is new too, that's probably why... i don't know in other branches..

congrats to louna for walking! rockstar baby is now trying to walk as much as possible himself! he can walk several feet now, but is still wobbly!

Kaya lang they don't accept kids that less than 3 yrs old.

I saw it also in Ayala as well. It is nice that you can leave your children and be assured that they are having a good fun while the parents are shopping

Kat, for the first plane ride, prepare everything but stay light.. ;)

Francesca, i normally bring her to park playgrounds.. ang dumi nga lag pag uwi hehe.. hilig maglaro ng buhangin e..

Lucille, even in phils, they don't accept very young kids so dapat me bantay.

Ann, hehe, buti walang food counter dun, i guess louna would have done the same..

Chase, this is a great idea indeed..

KD, haha, meron ding girlzone naman..
