Home Déco: Need Advice

Frenchguy's out so I took this opportunity to indulge myself into decorating our house - well, just a minor change lang naman - our curtain. It's not at all my forté so if you could honestly give me your opinion, that will be greatly appreciated.

#1: Gray and Burgundy-colored double curtain. Disadvantage is that it partly hinders sunlight to enter into our living room.

#2: Brilliant orange curtain which is à la mode at the moment. It's very thin so it still allows sunlight to enter which is good for my plants. Disadvantage is that we could see through it when the lights are switched on (this door/window gives access to our garden).

Please vote. Thanks.

numero deux!

why dont you buy those double curtain hangers (dont know how they're called)? that way you can hang both the heavy curtain and the light one (assuming of course that they are colour coordinated). you can just pull the heavy one over the light one in the evenings so people can't see into your home.

but if i'd have to choose, i'm all for sunlight so i'd go for number one. :-)

Hola Anna! I like the 2nd one..mejo orangy..autumn colour din yan eh and it adds coziness & intimacy to the room especially so that you have a very light-painted wall. The curtain coordinated the color of your foot stool, pillows and the greenery pot.

Hi Ana! kumusta?

Okay, you'll need net curtains (voilage), double-rideaux and 2 curtain rods.

white net curtains - ok yan during the day since they allow sunlight to penetrate into the house. so ok para sa plants mo.

your ORANGE double-rideaux, ipatong mo sya sa voilage mo. so, sa gabi may privacy kayo. people outside won't see you.

just ask your husband to put another tringle (curtain rod).

well, yan lang ang pede kong i-advice since wala na kong makitang ibang solution aside from that.

have a nice day! bisous!

Thanks guys! It seems that everybody agrees with my choice :)

Nao and Mildred, hey mga baklita, sabi ko, vote kayo which of the two yung preferred nyo, aba, at me naglambitin pa sa kurtina ko, di naman bomoto....ok, i'll rephrase my question...saan nyo mas feel maglambitin hehe..

Kala, I'm actually targeting that, kaya lang, I need frenchguy's helping hand, so i haven't started yet. I still have a lot of stuffs to add hehe..

Bless, got it right ;). I really coordinated it with the autumn color, and with the coming of winter, i need more light inside the house, last year kasi, it was our first winter in this house and all of my plants didn't appreciate the change, naging lantang halaman sila :(.

Airwind, the only guy who commented, hmmm...at least that assured me, i hope frenchguy would love it too..

Noemi, sometimes i experience that also when i comment on other sites, nakakainis. thanks for the vote, everybody likes numero dos nga hehe, have a nice weekend ahead...mwaah din daw sabi ni bébé..

Boks, i'm actually waiting frenchguy to put le 2ième tringle, he will arrive tomorrow, so hopefully he will like the change. I haven't chosen the 2ieme rideau tho...the orange curtain is actually le voilage, so i'll search pa for the 2nd one which will match with my orange net curtain....di na ko nakahintay, i feel inloved with this rideau kasi, coup de foudre kung baga..and with frenchguy, baka i wont be able to buy it kasi he will think it's trop cher na naman. kunat hehe! have a nice weekend bokski, bises!

salut ana!

I like sunlight as well so I vote for teh first one but you shoudl try kala's suggestion. I think it will serve both your purpose.

Bonne Journeé

actually, it's the second one which allows more light, sa gabi ko lang kasi kinuha yung picture unlike sa first one which i took on broad daylight..so i suppose you prefer the second one?

bon weekend, Duke!

#2. I like sunlight on daytime and privacy at night. Nice living room.

Ana,

If your window serves as a gateway of your living room to your garden, then I would recommend that you take a curtain with no prints [if there is parang embroidered/embossed sya but same tone] and a shade that is close to the paint color of your walls.

With that, the curtain will draw out the purpose of highlighting the garden outside. You can pull them together in the middle if there is too much sun and pull them side ways apart if you want the outside scenery and some light.

Also, you already have a colorful home and a focal point which the fireplace so a simpler and tamer curtain will enhance the other objects and points of interest.

The curtain runners are quite easy to install and you can just them in any home and hardware store.

Goodspeed!

nice living room Ana! =)
love the sunlight, so obviously I go with #1. though I also agree with kala, that'll be a perfect combination! =o)
happy weekend!

Ruth, hmmm, seems that everybody loves autumn colors..

Agring, thanks. I'm actually looking for that purpose. In fact, with #2, it blocks the visibility during daylight without blocking the sun (just checked it this morning)...yun nga lang, at night, we could really see thru it..hmmm..

Jori, wow, lakas ko naman, i even have expert's advice. the left door serves as the gateway to our garden, check the new pix, it's clearer now. our wall's color is yellow/white stripes, so i guess this orangy-yellow color matches it.

er, the curtain rods and stuffs, ill just wait for frenchguy, with the curtain alone, i was already almost out of breath hehe..

Ligaya, thanks. i still have to scout for the perfect combi hehe..have a nice weekend too..

i find that the new photo of #2 makes the room a little dark - is it still taken at night? hey! i have the same motiff - orange & yellow (or is it?)!

oo nga, we can decide that over coffee sana :) malay mo i can give you a holler the next time we go to belfort, diba?

Analyse said...

Makis, hehe, it's still taken at night. that's my only time available kasi, i always hurry in the morning, pero promise, it allows more sunlight than the first one..

awww, yeah, have your coffee break at dijon next time...

Mildred and Nao, ayan, salamat sa boto hehe.

Mildred, bawal flying voter dito, ano yun aswang? hehe..o sya, i'll check yang assignment na yan, pero more on next week na, darating ang frenchguy today, babatukan na naman ako nun pag nakaharap na naman ako sa pc hehe..

Nao, kinaladkad ka ba hahaha..

Honest opinion?
The walls is white. The canape is dark color.
The curtain gives a bit of live color to contrast the white and black.

If it is near sight, it is a bit heavy.
But when get far, it is okey! thumbs up for the nice deco.Bravo.
Ma idea pala si Buntis!

hey there taga dubai, welcome to my hideaway! thanks sa vote hehe, habol pa ;).

there's 2 le touquet i saw on the net, if you're referring to the one in pas de calais, it's 573 km (5h drive) from dijon, then if you're referring to the one in nord-haverskerque, it's 510 km (4h 40min drive) from dijon.

if you happen to pass by, leave me a message, i could prepare coffee for you ;).
